An Afternoon of Fiddle Tunes

Description

At this NEA funded public program at the Salem Public Library, TAI director Jon Kay presented two fiddlers from the region. Larry Hopkins is a well-known Instrument maker and long time promoter of fiddle music in the region. Paul Goodpasture is a great fiddler who serves as an important link between past fiddling legends such as Lotus Dickey and newer players such as Michael Cleveland. The program was the first of its kind at the Library and attracted a larger audience than expected. The fiddlers shared tunes, talked about their musical heritage and described the vitality of the region’s musical traditions.
